His Story is my Story
Art has always been a part of my life. God created me to paint, draw and create.
When I became a follower of Christ, I wanted to create my art to glorify Him. He is the Master Designer; I merely try to re-create on canvas or in my art what He has already accomplished. Just look around you, the natural world rejoices in praise to the Creator!
Growing up in Mississippi gave me a love for all natural things. To me, outdoors is better than indoors, so I spent much time outdoors, observing native wildlife, the colors of sunsets, sunrises, and how everything fits together in God’s workmanship. As a child one of my fondest memories was collecting rocks. There was quartz, flint, fossils, glittering sandstone, all pretty common stones but in my eyes they were treasures. Most stones are used for humble purposes, such as an aggregate in cement and lime concrete, or stone architecture. They are sometimes used to make iron, and they are used in the building of homes, dams, bridges, road work, and pathways. Stones can even be used in the making of bricks. Stones have many uses and they are important. But have you ever considered that we are living stones?
Living Stones Bracelets and Tracts grew out of a desire to share God’s love with others. The message is one of encouragement. When I came to Christ, I had to come broken and with humility, I was unworthy of His love. But I learned through His Word that asking forgiveness of my sins, turning from those sins and placing my faith in Him would give me a new life. Faith and trust in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross makes you and me a living stone. God is building us up with Him as the chief cornerstone. The Bible tells us in 1 Peter 2:1-5:
So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good. As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
Tracts have always been a way to share God’s love and redeeming message with others. Each Living Stone Bracelet comes with a message of encouragement, Biblical truth, or the gospel message. Each bracelet bears the name of a specific inspirational concept.
Wearing these bracelets reminds you and me that we belong to Christ as one of His living stones, loved by Him as His child. The beautiful, natural stones used to fashion these bracelets are God’s creation. Just as some would call these stones “precious” please remember that you are chosen and precious to God.
