Mississippi State's Maroon and White are represented by maroon Jade and Fossil Stone beads.  Jade is a gemstone with a long and rich history of use going back thousands of years. Most commonly regarded as a green stone, the material occurs in a wide variety of colors that include green, white, lavender, yellow, blue, black, red, orange, and gray. A multitude of minerals that are not true jade have been mis-named as jade. Examples include, African Jade, Amazon Jade, American Jade, Garnet Jade, Mexican Jade, Indian Jade, Oregon Jade, Serpentine Jade and more.

Fossil Stone beads, sometimes called Fossil Riverstone or simply Riverstone, are made of fossil coral, changed and mineralized over the ages of time. Fossil Stone is generally cream to beige in color, reminiscent of its limestone origin.
